RU-CENTER provides facilities for L-Root site in Russia

RU-CENTER, Russian domain name service provider and ICANN have collaborated on a common project for L-Root site installation in Russia. L-Root is operated by ICANN. It is one of thirteen DNS root servers that provide functionality and connectivity of DNS on global level. As we all know, domain name servers are a key element of Internet infrastructure essential for user navigation and integrity of Internet address space. For this mission, RU-CENTER provided equipment and datacenter facilities for continued L-Root operation in Russia. Joe Abley, Director of ICANN's DNS Group had said that ICANN's one core value is to preserve and enhance the operational stability, reliability, security and global interoperability of the Internet; and therefore this L-Root deployment is a essential step in helping us perform that function. The root server site deployment in Russia is aimed at enhancing DNS failure-resistance and the stability of its functioning. This expansion allows for an increase in geographical diversity for the critical infrastructure of the global DNS, and its readiness to handle high loads (for example, Distributed Denial of Service, or DDoS, attacks) without collapsing. Alexander Panov, RU-CENTER CEO - said that RU-CENTER is one of the oldest DNS services providers in Russia and further explained that the company has modern telecommunication equipment, own system engineers with valuable experience in the sphere of network technology.
