In an embarrassing snafu, ICANN has suffered another glitch with their new gTLD applications that saw postal addresses for some applicants revealed on their website.
The glitch follows the TLD Application System going down for over a month and the closing date and Big Reveal both being delayed.
In a statement on their website, ICANN revealed that they had inadvertently “published the postal addresses of some primary and secondary contacts for new generic top level domain applications. This information was not intended for publication. The addresses appeared as responses to portions of questions six and seven on the application.”
As a result, ICANN temporarily disabled viewing of the application details, however the problem has now been rectified and public portions of the new gTLD applications have been restored to the ICANN website.
The 1930 applicants for 1430 gTLDs were revealed by ICANN on Wednesday in their Big Reveal ceremony in London.
